The Consell approves the compensation for the distinguished researchers of the ValER Foundation for the recruitment and retention of scientific talent in the Valencian Community
The Consell has approved the application of compensation, above the maximum allowed, to the ValER Foundation, which belongs to the Public Instrumental Sector. These compensations, intended for distinguished researchers, are comparable to those of university professors and allow for more competitive salary conditions on par with other regions and countries.
The Foundation of the Valencian Community for Excellence in Research (ValER) has been entrusted with the strategic objective of attracting and retaining distinguished research personnel with a minimum of ten years of professional experience, as well as high international projection and influence, based on criteria of scientific excellence and leadership.
Strategic Plan 2024-2029
ValER has a strategic plan for the period 2024-2029, which received favorable feedback from the Consell’s Delegate Commission for Finance and Economic Affairs on February 1st. Its main objective is the permanent hiring of distinguished researchers under the framework of Law 14/2011 on Science, Technology, and Innovation (LCTI). This will be achieved through the launch of six annual public calls, each offering a minimum of five positions, ultimately reaching at least thirty distinguished researcher positions by the end of the period.
This strategic plan is partly funded by the annual profits that the ValER Foundation receives from the VIU (Valencia International University).
The plan considers five scientific areas: Life and Health Sciences, Experimental Sciences and Mathematics, Engineering, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Humanities.
Ultimately, this strategic plan aims to strengthen the Valencian Community’s international position as a hub for attracting scientific talent to address major challenges in sectors such as climate, energy, health emergencies, and digital transition, among others.
ValER Foundation
In 2014, the Foundation of the Valencian Community for the Promotion of Higher Studies (FFES) was established, later renamed ValER in 2021. Its purpose is to strengthen the Valencian System of Science and Research (SVCI) by attracting, recovering, and consolidating top-level research personnel from around the world. Notably, through the ValER Foundation, the Generalitat holds a 30% stake in Valencia International University (VIU), with the remaining 70% owned by the Planeta Group.
Attached to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Universities, and Employment, the ValER Foundation is responsible for managing contracts so that researchers from all over the world can develop their professional careers in the Valencian Community, facilitating their progressive consolidation.
ValER’s objective is to attract high-level scientific and academic personnel, enabling the Valencian Community to compete with research systems in other regions and countries.
