Presentation the First ValER Call for Permanent Distinguished Researcher Positions in the Valencian Community

On Tuesday, February 11, took place the presentation of the ValER 2025 call for the coverage of five permanent Distinguished Researcher positions in the Valencian Community.

The event was held in the Gothic Courtyard of the Palau de la Generalitat, presided over by the head of the Consell, Carlos Mazón. It also featured speeches by the Conseller of Education, Culture, Universities, and Employment, José Antonio Rovira, and the Scientific Director of ValER, Rosa Llusar.

The researchers selected in this call will carry out their projects at public or private non-profit universities, foundations, or research centers in the Valencian Community. They will conduct independent and collaborative research, as well as be able to attract competitive funding and lead their own lines of research.

This initiative has an investment of 17 million euros until 2029. Specifically, 60% of the budget will be allocated to hiring researchers, 30% for the development of scientific projects, with an initial allocation of 150,000 euros, and a mobility grant of up to 5,000 euros to facilitate the integration of international talent.

As the Conseller of Education, Culture, Universities, and Employment has pointed out, “No country or region can prosper without a decisive investment in science and technology.”

President Mazón emphasized the importance of the ValER Program, as it marks the beginning “of an ambitious strategy to make the Valencian Community a territory where science and innovation are the foundation of development, employment, and quality of life.”
