Valer Foundation, affiliated with the Valencian Regional Government, is advertising eight permanent positions for distinguished researchers in the Valencian Community

The Valencian Community Foundation for Research Excellence (ValER) is launching its 2026 call for applications with the aim of attracting talent to the Valencian Science System.

The Regional Government is committed to transforming the Valencian Community into a hub of international scientific excellence, attracting leading researchers in their fields to develop their careers here and contribute to the well-being and progress of Valencian society.

An open call for applications from around the world, based in the Valencian Community.

ValER has just launched its 2026 Call for Applications, offering eight permanent Distinguished Researcher contracts to high-level scientists from around the world, who will be able to carry out their research projects at universities, foundations and research centres in Valencia. These are stable, well-paid positions backed by initial funding that allows each researcher to set up their own team and line of work from day one.

In this second edition, the call is open to three major areas of knowledge: Life and Health Sciences, Social and Behavioural Sciences, and the Humanities. This reflects a broad and inclusive vision of research, recognising that the advancement of society requires both biomedical science and social, cultural and humanistic thought.

Each successful researcher will receive initial funding of 150.000€ to set up their team and research projects, and 5.000€ to cover the cost of moving to the Region. The deadline for submitting applications is 30 June 2026 at 13:00 (Central European Time) via the platform https://call.valer-f.es/.

What does it mean for the Region to attract scientists of this calibre?

The distinguished researchers recruited by ValER will enhance the impact of research carried out in the region, lead teams, train young researchers, attract national and international funding, and build bridges between science and industry, public policy and society. Their work could lead to new medical treatments, technological solutions, better-informed social policies or a greater understanding of our history and culture.

Having internationally renowned researchers also has a multiplier effect: it raises the standard and visibility of the host institutions, attracts other talent (PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, international collaborators) and consolidates the Valencian Community as an attractive environment for conducting world-class science.

A sustained commitment to science and talent.

The ValER 2026 Call is not an isolated initiative, but rather the expression of the Regional Government’s strategic and sustained commitment to scientific research. Offering permanent contracts represents a long-term commitment to research talent. The aim is to build a robust scientific system, connected to Europe and the world, which generates impactful knowledge and yields concrete benefits for the people of Valencia.

About ValER.

Investing in scientific research is not merely a matter of academic prestige: it is one of the most powerful drivers for improving citizens’ quality of life, creating high-quality jobs and ensuring that the Valencian economy remains competitive in the long term. Major advances in medicine, technology, environmental sustainability and the social sciences stem from research, and the regions that attract the best scientists are the ones that set the course for progress.

The Regional Government established the ValER Foundation, which operates under the Regional Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities. Its mission is clear: to put the Valencian Community on the global map of world-class science by attracting, bringing back and retaining outstanding researchers from all over the world.
